More British People Lonelier Than Ever: Find Out The Reason Behind
A new survey commissioned by the Campaign to End Loneliness in UK found that millions of people are lonely in Britain. This is especially true for the elderly, according to their findings. However, their fear of admitting their predicament is adding to their burden.
The Missing Million: Millions of British People Suffering in Silence
More than 80 percent of British people in the UK admitted to being lonely and more than 10 percent, especially among the elderlies, said they feel that way "all the time." Furthermore, the survey also revealed that they also know other people who have the same predicament as them. The findings commissioned and published by Campaign to End Loneliness in their website hopes to give authorities some recommendations on how to determine lonely people in the country.

Loneliness is a Taboo Subject and it Doesn't Help Their Situation at All
People in the UK find the subject of loneliness a taboo. The Campaign to End Loneliness Director Marcus Rand said in a statement that the inability to tell someone of their predicament cannot help in their situation. Those who need help will continue to suffer in silence unless they open up.
Rising Isolation Among Elderlies is Bad for the Economy
According to the report, social isolation is detrimental to the health. Loneliness is just as harmful as tobacco smoking and it can increase high blood pressure which can turn to heart problems and the succeeding use of medication.
Furthermore, older people who are lonely are at higher risk of developing depression and dementia. People who are suffering from loneliness are more likely to end up in hospital emergency rooms than others. These, in turn could impact the national economy as the rising costs can mean budgetary strain for the NHS, social care, and others, the Daily Mail noted.
