As heartbreaking as it was for fans to watch the premiere episode of 'The Walking Dead' Season 7, Jeffrey Dean Morgan admitted it was emotionally draining to play Negan as well.

In the premier episode of 'The Walking Dead,' the two favorite characters, Glenn and Abraham meet their deaths at the hands of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The brutality involved in the killing sent shivers down audience's spines as Negan bashed heads up of Glenn and Abraham with his Lucille bat in front of Rick Grimes' gang. Glenn's death especially was chilling as his poor wife, Maggie watched him die.

Morgan opened up to Interview magazine about the emotional toll he suffered while playing Negan in the premier episode of  'The Walking Dead' Season 7.

The 50-year-old actor said, "Look, that whole episode was hard, and also because I did go through and smack everybody with Lucille at a certain point. Everybody took a hit. All of that was hard. It got to the point where I didn't want to do it anymore. Emotionally, I was completely drained--all of us were, I would imagine."

Morgan further admitted that having to do those horrible things to his cast members, who are good people was very difficult for him. At times, he had to catch his breath in between takes to emotionally stabilise himself to carry on with his hard-hitting role of Negan.

According to Megan, the filming of the episode was not just difficult for the cast members because of the brutality involved in it, but also having to say goodbye to actors, Steven Yeun and Michael Cudlitz, who joined the series in Season 4 of 'Walking Dead.'
