Killer Clown Purge 2016: Real Or Hoax?
The killer clown purge 2016 was reportedly going to begin at midnight before Halloween according to a post on a now-deleted Facebook account that read, " WARNING clowns are allegedly planning their own purge the night before Halloween. Stay inside, keep all pets inside and keep all doors and windows locked. Share this with your family and friends."
While some people dismissed it as a hoax, police forces throughout the US, UK and other parts of Europe heightened their security. According to Bitbag, the purge began a week before Halloween with clowns in the UK attacking people. Derbyshire police department said that they have already recorded 23 incidents involving people dressed as killer clowns in the area.
Killer clowns arrived in the UK in the first week of October, targeting children, luring them with candies and trying to take them into woods, according to claims. There were reports that two pre-teens were chased by a knife-wielding killer clown on the way to school, while another teen was attacked by a clown, sustaining bruises in Europe, among other clown-related incidents.
The killer clown purge hype apparently rests on the plot of the movie, "The Purge." In the movie, crimes were legalized for 12 hours and everyone had the freedom to kill or hurt the other with no one held accountable for it.
Similar reports also spread in the US and the authorities took a quick action declaring that killer clown purge prank was no longer funny and anyone caught wearing clown costumes to scare people would be punishable by law.
According to Morning Ledger, as of the moment, there is no definite count on how many people were attacked in the purge but reports state that 23 people were attacked in Canada. The victims have been thought to be associated with a clown-related incident causing national security to intervene.
