Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered Already Facing Audio Issues After Release
Skyrim, Bethesda's triple A title from 2011 got remastered this month, and it already is facing issues. So far, PC owners who were waiting desperately for the game have said that the game does not look remastered and that most of the mods for the original Skyrim do a far better job.
Even players for the Xbox One were unimpressed by the remastered version. When Bethesda went and declared that they are working on the title, the entire gaming community's heart skipped a beat, and for all the right reasons too.
When Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released back in 2011, the game sold out in stores pretty quickly. Official sales figures have so far reported to be over 20 million copies shipped. So when the remastered was announced, the gaming community responded in kind by grabbing it as soon as they could.
The newer remastered version is plagued by a number of things. For starters, it doesn't look like a proper remaster. Moreover, the game's audio quality has been severely downgraded for the PC and the Xbox One.
Bethesda was quick to respond to the complaints and has stated that they are currently testing a patch for the Skyrim Special Edition that would hopefully solve the sound quality issues. The patch is scheduled to be released this week.
If the graphics alone is compared, the PS4 and XBOX One users don't have much to complain. However, the PC owners aren't happy. PC owners have been steadily on the front, complaining about the major technical issues and hiccups the game has got.
As for the sound quality, Redditor "LasurArkinshade" states that the new Skyrim uses humongous amounts of .xvm compression. This differs from the original as the original used uncompressed .wav files.
Only time would tell how the remastered version of Skyrim plays out in the hands of the gaming community. For now, Skyrim is available for all three major platforms with mod support.
