‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Spinoff Now Officially Being Developed
'Sons Of Anarchy,' spinoff series dubbed as 'Mayans MC' is officially being developed by the series creator Kurt Sutter along with Elgin James.
Long pending in the pipeline, Sutter and James have finally started writing the script. The spinoff series of 'Sons Of Anarchy' is said to center around the Latino motorcycle club, 'The Mayans.' It can be recalled that Mayans were pivotal recurring players on 'Sons Of Anarchy,' which ran for seven seasons from 2008 all the way to 2014. The series stands as the highest-rated drama series in FX network's' history.
According to Variety, James will pen the pilot script of the spinoff series of 'Sons Of Anarchy,' which is intended to be a dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the American icons, the 1 percent outlaw, this time reflected through a Latino lens.
Sutter said on James, "I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice because I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."
James' directorial debut, 'Little Birds' starring Juno Temple and Leslie Mann, premiered in competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The film then released in 2012 and went on to win a National Board of Review Award. James is next slated to direct 'A Million Pieces' for John Wells and Plan B entertainment, and is said to be developing a film featuring the tumultuous life of actress Jean Seberg, adapted from 'Breathless,' a biography by Garry Mc Gee.
The huge fan base of 'Sons Of Anarchy' have long been waiting for the spinoff to begin and with Sutter and James hard at work, 'Mayans MC' could soon be hitting the small screens.
