When it comes to software updates, OnePlus Inc., lags behind others in pushing for latest Android version. But, OnePlus wants to break this jinx with the release of latest Android OS. Finally, there is some good news in store for OnePlus fans to cheer for this Christmas!

The beta testing of Android Nougat on OnePlus phones is doing rounds among fans since August this year. On 30^th October 2016, the benchmarking website, Geekbench ratified the rumors and confirmed with details on its website. It has released the performance results of the OnePlus family of smartphones upon installation of Android Nougat 7.0 & 7.1.

According to Geekbench, the OnePlus One scored 976 with Single-core and 2521 with Multi-core when tested with Android Nougat 7.0.  OnePlus 2 scored 1168 with Single-core and 2694 with Multi-core when booted with Android Nougat 7.0 version. OnePlus 2 also tested with Nougat 7.1 and it has scored 715 with Single-core, whereas it has scored 2922 with Multi-core.

Similar tests were performed on OnePlus 3 with Nougat 7.1 version. I got to tell you folks, it did perform extremely well with scores of 1747 with Single-core and 4007 with Multi-core. As evident from the above, OnePlus 3 will get Nougat 7.1 while other two earlier models may get Nougat 7.0. Though OnePlus X is not spotted but it will be updated with Nougat along with others. However, there is no official announcement from OnePlus Inc. on Nougat updates.  

But, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset in OnePlus One is incompatible with Vulcan API required for Nougat. Secondly, OnePlus Inc. also hinted that latest version of Android will be rolled out for smartphones which are less than two years old.  The above points support the argument that OnePlus One may not get Android Nougat 7.0 version. Or, in the best case, it is likely that the Android Nougat version may be tweaked to accommodate in OnePlus One. 

Soon, the OnePlus 3 may pave way for OnePlus 3T, the flagship product, slated to be released in December 2016 in the interim before the big & ultimate release of the company's killer product-OnePlus 4.
