Surface Pro 5 announcement is right around the corner, but thanks to Black Friday deals, the Surface Pro 4 is looking at an increased sales figures. However, it may not be the right time to invest in the Surface Pro 4, with the replacement breathing heavily at its neck. Here are some reasons why upgrading to the current tablet isn't necessary:

Firstly, the new Surface Pro 5 would be coming early 2017, and waiting a few months for a majorly upgraded machine seems to be a better choice. Microsoft has delayed its upcoming Windows 10 Creators Update dates to coincide with the release of new Surface devices. Since two other Surface devices were unveiled last month, it seems that the new devices would feature the Surface Pro 5.

Secondly, the Surface Pro 4 did come with its own problems, one of them being battery life issues. Patches were downloaded and some shortcomings were mitigated, but the battery life hasn't markedly increased. Microsoft promises to solve the problems in the new Surface and thereby waiting for this tablet is worthwhile.

Thirdly, the new processor architecture. The Surface Pro 5 would likely feature a brand new CPU architecture, called the Kaby Lake. There would be a marked 25% performance boost should the new Surface use it. The processor would be able to utilize the battery efficiently while performing most demanding tasks effortlessly. Surface Pro 4 is more than a year old, and in technology terms, it is old.

Fourthly, the tablet competition has increased considerably, and therefore Microsoft would likely ensure competitive products, which means users would be getting a first class finished product which can go head to head with Apple and other manufacturers. Surface Pro 4 came at a time where there wasn't much competition, which meant users had to compromise for the price they paid.

Fifthly, Black Friday and holiday season deals would still be there next year, and users planning to go for a relatively cheaper Surface Pro 4 can still upgrade to the tablet, bypassing the Surface Pro 5 altogether.
