‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 News Update: Nina Dobrev Wants A Comeback Without Ian Somerhalder In The Series’ Finale
'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 is already airing on the CW on Friday nights, but the much talked about rumored comeback of Nina Dobrev hasn't taken place in the series' finale season yet.
It was reported that the series' Executive Producer, Julie Plec would include in the storyline of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8, the reunion of the original casts, especially Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Plec openly talked about the repercussions of 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 finale without having the hopeful reunion of Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in a conversation with Digital Spy.
Plec shared that at the moment, she is still going on the possibility that Dobrev and Somerhalder would give Elena and Damon one more episode together before the series wraps up for good. Following the previous seasons of 'The Vampire Diaries,' relationship of Elena and Damon has become an integral part of the plot of the series. Even fans have openly conveyed their desire to see Elena and Damon reunite in the finale season.
Plec assured that there is an alternate plan ready if 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 finale reunion of Elena and Damon does not succeed in taking place. However, she didn't seem too enthusiastic about the alternate plan as she revealed that Nina Dobrev's presence in 'The Vampire Diaries' is very crucial in maintaining the momentum of the show.
According to reports, Dobrev is said to have made some serious negotiations with Plec on her comeback in 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 finale. Dobrev would return if her ex, Somerhalder would exit the show.
Insiders have disclosed that even Somerhalder does not look pleased with news of Dobrev's comeback in the show, even if that means the two could be working together for the last time. The stars have clearly not mended their hostilities against each other, going by the reports.
In the meantime, Plec is hopeful she doesn't have to choose between the two.
