BlackBerry To launch A Smartphone Code Named Mercury: With Physical Keyboard
According to latest updates from BlackBerry, it is being sensed that the company is working on a New Smartphone that will actually have a physical keyboard. This was a staple item in all Blackberry designs in the past.
The QWERTY keyboard is missing from the company's latest mobile phone releases. These full touch screen designs were DTEK 50 and DTEK 60.
News available on Gsm Arena clearly states that the company has not provided any details about this upcoming Smartphone. Further, it has not mentioned whether this phone will adopt the candy bar form factor or would it be a slider like the Priv.
The fact is that such phone has been speculated for quite a while now and it has been rumored that this device will have a classic BlackBerry design, with sans sliding mechanism.
This Smartphone has been code named as Mercury. It might come with 4.5-inch Full HD touch screen and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The processor shall be octa-core Qualcomm 2GHz, and this device will be equipped with 2 GB of ram including 32 GB of storage.
As far as the camera is concerned it will have an 18 MP rear camera and an 8 MP Selfie snapper. The battery would be a3400 mAH and this Smartphone would run Android 7.0 from the very first away.
The Mercury might not be a BlackBerry product but one created by the partner. The Same thing had happened in the case of BlackBerry's DTEK50 and DTEK60. These phones were made by Alcatel a partner company.
According to the new business model by BlackBerry that was announced in September this year the partner company shall be licensing the use of BlackBerry brand and software suit on it.
We have to wait and watch for the latest developments on this device as Blackberry has not made anything public.
