Samsung Galaxy S8: What We Know So Far

Samsung has had an unfortunate run at the market with its Note 7, which was called back some time ago. Samsung has so far increased the marketing on the 2016 S7 flagship and is therefore trying to cover up the losses from the Note 7 campaign.

What it aims to do still, is make a revolutionary smartphone, which will be called the Galaxy S8 and will be released in 2017.

The Galaxy S8 was to be released sometime by February 26, and the rumored specs are here. There are reports of two models for the S8, just like the S7 and the S7 Edge. Both the versions would feature curved edge displays, as Samsung wants to step up its game.

There can be a 2K curved display for the smaller 5.7-inch model, and a 2K curved display for the larger 6.2-inch model. 2K is selected over 4K for getting better battery performance.

Samsung will most likely stun everyone with its new all touch technology. It will feature a home key embedded in the display, and reports suggest that the on-screen home key would double as a fingerprint scanner as well.

There would also be as many as four cameras on board the Galaxy S8. There would be a standard 8MP selfie camera at the front, along with an iris scanner camera, and dual cameras (12MP Samsung and 13MP Sony sensor) at the back. It would also have 3-coil wireless charging design that would bring about faster wireless charging and even better range.

Just like Siri and Google Assistant, Samsung is building a digital assistant from the ground up for immersive usability. Viv will be Samsung's new digital assistant and will debut on board the S8. The S8 might also feature a bezel-less display much like the Mi Mix, as there are reports that Samsung wants to increase the screen size without increasing the chassis size.

All in all, the Galaxy S8 seems to be an amazing phone. Only time will tell how it fairs against the heavyweights while carrying the burden of the Note 7 on its shoulders.
