Jaguar unveils its first ever electric concept named I-Pace, which will become a reality in 2018. The Tesla Model X competitor has inspired design from its predecessor Jaguar F-Pace that is already delivering successful sales.

Similar shape as F-Pace

Jaguar's F-Pace and I-Pace sport similar general crossover shape. However, the body of the vehicle is shrunk considerably as there is no need for space to accommodate internal combustion engines. This adds up to the sporty design of the vehicle.

Smart Automotive system

The interior is lower, equipped with the traditional Jaguar steering wheel with new touch-style switches. The five-seat vehicle is said to accommodate considerable bag space as well. The four wheels of the vehicle are connected to electric motors on each axle. The wheels together provide 400 horsepower and about 516 pound-feet of torque. It is reported that it can reach 60 mph in about 4 seconds flat.

I-Pace Battery Specs

Its battery is a 90-kWh pack of cells claiming to be able to cover a range of 500km (310 miles). The battery can be charged in the public charge stations in less than two hours' time to full. However, an overnight charging at home can easily allow for a daily commute distance of 50Kms. The Tesla Model X has a range of up to 250 miles and it is rumored that I-Pace shall cover lesser or more than its competitor's vehicle.

Expected Release Date

Jaguar's goal is complete the production of I-Pace in 2018, to hit the dealers. Jaguar's first electric vehicle, is expected to have a six-digit price. I-Pace electric concept will be displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week.
