Anime fans across the globe were ecstatic when news broke out that the premiere date "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 would be within this year. After all, season 2 of the hit manga series ended last year, the reason why expectations were high that the third season would premier in 2016.

Unfortunately, the show's timetable has reportedly been pushed back. In fact, there are speculations that the latest season would be rolled out by March 2017. 

This may dampen the spirits of the series' followers who will have to wait for next year before they'll be able to watch the exploits of Kaneki and the rest of the gang. There are rumors that pre-production for "Tokyo Ghoul" has not even started due to the lack of adequate material, according to Saiko.

The creator of the "Tokyo Ghoul" manga may inadvertently be responsible for the delay in the season 3 premiere. Although his output for the comic version has been ahead by a couple of chapters, this has not been sufficient to cover the show's full season of 12 episodes. 

After the airing of the series' first two seasons, there has been a growing clamor from fans to do a reboot of the series. It's because most of them feel that "Tokyo Ghoul's" TV adaptation has not stayed true to its manga version. 

One of the show's writers, however, has assured viewers that the series will not deviate the spirit of the popular manga. He described the latest season as the "most disillusioning, psychological and darkest plot" they will adapt. 

In the meantime, Pierrot has been mum on the story line of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. The anime studio has reportedly turned over the production of the series to Madhouse, which could be another possible reason for the delay in its premiere date, according to News Everday. 

Although fans of the show have expressed disappointment over the delays the show has encountered, the change in studio could be a wise decision. Madhouse, which is behind "One Punch Man" and "Death Note," is expected to introduce major technical and aesthetical improvements to the series.

The premiere date of "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 might still be several months from now, but its followers can expect it to be a vast improvement of its earlier versions, if the latest news and spoilers are to be believed.
