‘Hamilton’ Stars Addressed Mike Pence; Brandon Victor Dixon: "Uphold Our American Values And Work On Behalf Of All Of Us"
Hamilton stars definitely started a Twitter war when they called out on VP Elect Mike Pence. Everyone had mixed opinions about the whole thing. But everything exploded when Donald Trump reacted and tweeted about it. He said that the wonderful VP Mike Pence was harassed at the theater by the Hamilton cast while cameras were blazing. He said that shouldn't have happened.
Some people thought it was disrespectful, while others thought the complete opposite, saying that they were giving out a heartfelt plea to the vice president. Even stars at the American Music Awards had their own opinions about it.
Idina Menzel of Broadway said the theater is actually the perfect place to provoke thought. This is exactly what the cast of Hamilton did with Pence. Hoping that would inspire him to work for its citizens. All of them. And she feels it's rather unfortunate for the president elect's inability to embrace it as freedom of speech and the arts. To celebrate that moment. She said she's really proud of her friends at Hamilton for what they did took a lot of guts.
Even producer Diplo agrees with her. He said people can say what they want and that's what's great about the country. The people who took the time to speak made a story about it is even better since it breeds awareness.
On the other hand, actress Keke Palmer said that the presidential nominees invited 'a new age' with their disrespectful tone during campaign season. She said that yes, people should have respect for the government and leaders, but the president and VP should also have respect for the people they are catering to. It's not possible to create a disrespectful atmosphere then expect people to still be respectful towards you.
Mike Pence's response, as per The Blaze, was more presidential-like compared to Trump's statement. He said that he wasn't offended by the cast or their comments. During the interview on Sunday on CBS "Face the Nation" he said he wanted to assure people who were disappointed with the election results. Those feeling anxious at this time should know that Trump meant what he said on election night. He is going to be the president of all people of the United States of America.
