Lady Gaga In Defense Of Kanye West: Don't Joke About Mental Illness

By Audrey | Update Date: Nov 24, 2016 07:30 AM EST

Despite Lady Gaga and Kanye West not meeting eye to eye in the past, the Poker Face singer was up and ready defending the rapper. She took to Twitter and told people not to joke about the situation.

She said that it's not funny to joke about anyone's possible or not possible mental illness. She adds that it's a sensitive time for many so it's important for everyone to be kind and loving. She hopes that the rapper will be treated with compassion during his plight.

She also praised the rapper for being brave enough to cancel the rest of his San Pablo tour so he could better take care of himself. But not everyone agreed with the singer. One post even told her to shut up and that her latest album flopped per THE WRAP.

Insurance Company Pays Out

Meanwhile, West can look forward to a $30 million payout from his insurance company if his mental illness can be proven. There's a catch, though, from the beginning, West should have disclosed his preexisting conditions to the insurance company. If he did, they would most likely cover costs, included his salary for the tour dates that were canceled.

If his latest album The Life of Pablo was any indication, West was struggling with depression and/or mental health for quite some time, as published by TMZ. He rapped about taking Lexapro antidepressant. This is used for treating bipolar disorder, acute maintenance and treatment of a major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder.

As previously reported, West was admitted to UCLA Medical Center on Monday, November 21. This after authorities arrived at his trainer Harley Pasternak's home after he showed erratic behavior. Because of this, his wife Kim Kardashian dropped everything, even failed to attend the event honoring his father, the late Robert Kardashian in New York in order to be with her husband.
