Golden State Warriors Find Their Footing Against Timberwolves Despite Green's Absence
Draymond Green is the emotional leader of the Golden State Warriors. Green has been the vocal, fiery, and energy building player of the GSW. On a night without his presence, the Warriors took a while to find the flow.
Stephen Curry after the game had 34 points, six assists, and eight rebounds. Kevin Durant added 28 points, five assists, 10 rebounds, and a career-high of six blocked shots. Klay Thompson scored 23 points with four three-point shots. In an interview with Fox Sports, Klay said that without Green, they had to collectively raise their voices to make up.
Green bruised his ankle from a recent game against Los Angeles Lakers. He had a collision with Ian Clark a fellow warrior player. Both of them missed the game against the Timberwolves. Kevin Durant was quoted saying that they missed Green and that the team was a little stagnant earlier in a report by the Daily Herald. The Golden State Warriors despite Green's absence won the game against Minnesota Timberwolves with a score 115-102.
Timberwolves' Zach Lavine made 31 points with five three-point shots. Karl-Anthony Towns had 18 points. 12 of his 18 points in the first quarter are on 6-for-10 shooting. He missed five of his six tries and made a 3-point play with 4:03 remaining. Coach Tom Thibodeau said his team aspires to be like the Golden State Warriors. He added that the Warriors have been a model for them in terms of improvement as they make it on a step-by-step basis.
The Golden State Warriors lack offensive flow and internal defense against Timberwolves' Towns. It took the team some time until they found their rhythm. The Warriors went to a franchise-high record of 47 assists in their earlier home game against the L.A. Lakers. It is interesting to note that the Golden State Warriors has stepped up of their game even without Green.
