Facebook has announced its Instant Games Platform. Now the messenger users will be able to play games against one another through the chat app.

Presently this facility is available on latest versions of Android and iOS in 30 countries, Gamespot noted. Instant games are made available through HTML5, hence users will be allowed to play games without installing the new apps.

Players can tap on the controller icon in the chat conversation so as to choose from the list of games. As the game is selected it loads automatically challenging the fellow chat participant to beat the opponent's high score.

In 2008, Facebook dominated social gaming as its desktop app platform proved more popular to play around as compared to utilities. Even today 15 percent of the time on Facebook is spent while playing games, but the payment revenue has declined to $196 million in the past quarter, according to Tech Crunch.

It is believed that the HTML5 games built inside the messenger are not much powerful graphically but they are engaging. In fact, it is a two-pronged new approach to gaming by Facebook. Users can play Messenger Instant Games on their mobile phones. For the desktop game platform, there is a social alternative called as Facebook downloadable Gameroom desktop client.

Pocket-lint reported that the latest Facebook app will include a bookmark that is dedicated. Here, users will be able to find the games they have already played. In case the user wants to play from the computer, he can go to Facebook on the browser. After opening chat with a friend the user simply needs to click the game controller icon.

This feature was launched by the social network on Nov. 29. Presently, 30 games are available on this platform. After finishing a game run, those in conversation will see the score, and will have the chance to play their run.
