242 countries can now enjoy movies for free in some countries where Prime service has been launched in or at introductory price of $2.99 or 2.99 euros per month for the first six months, after which the price will be doubled to $5.99 or 5.99 euros on on-demand video streaming service in other regions.

Amazon Prime Video Vs Netflix

The Mothley Fool reported on Oct. 3 2016 that according to a recent survey by UBS, Netflix's competitors such as Amazon and Hulu were closing the gap when it comes to customer satisfaction. Now that Amazon has launched Prime Video and has expanded to many countries including India, Canada and France, Netflix faces real competition. But according to Reuters, the creation and marketing of movies and TV shows is a heavy spending for Amazon. With that fact, the company hopes people will sign up and buy from their online store so the annual subscription would be worth it.

Amazon Prime Video offers exclusive Amazon Originals as well as popular movies and TV shows. It features their award-winning originals such as "The Man in the High Castle," "Mozart in the Jungle" and "Transparent" among others with titles available for download anytime, anywhere.

Prime Video had been gunning for Netflix for awhile now after the latter had the spotlight for sometime now. In January, the latter expanded its global reach to more than 190 nations excluding China but then announced that it would license Chinese digital content services and then gave up on streaming into the country, MarketWatch said.

Tim Leslie Amazon's vice president for Instant Video, Internationalmsaid that Amazon will continue to focus on producing original content. Netflix still has to comment on what their actions will be against the e-commerce giant.

Both Prime Video and Netflix offers no services to China as of press time.
