Social VR: Facebook VR Redefines Party Ideas With ‘Oculus Rooms and Parties’; Better Technology Than Pokemon GO? [VIDEO]
The birth of social VR is happening as Oculus Facebook VR is taking virtual reality and party ideas to the next level. With "Oculus Rooms and Parties", it is now possible to interact with friends in the virtual world.
Oculus stated in a recent blog post that they are shifting the wave of virtual reality from gaming, like what Pokemon GO introduced, to social VR. From immersing in the virtual world alone, users can now experience everything the VR world has to offer with friends and people from around the world.
The Birth Of Social VR
A Facebook account that is linked to an Oculus account is needed to experience the birth of social VR through "Oculus Rooms and Parties". Users will be able to search for friends using either their full names or user accounts on Oculus. Once connected, participants can now check who is online, start a voice call or join the virtual world together.
Oculus Parties can host a maximum of four people. Once a group gathers, they can enter the Oculus Room where users can play simple games, watch videos together, or just chill and chat together, Hot Hardware reported.
Though "Oculus Rooms and Parties" is the latest take on the concept of social chat rooms, the experience is different from the actual social gathering.
