New Year’s Resolution 2017: Expert Warns Danger On Weight Loss For New Year [VIDEO]

Dr. Katherine Iscoe, an expert for body confidence has advised people to ditch out weight loss in their New Year's Resolution 2017 list. She reminds people that January does not give humans a super ability to shed body weight as they wish.

Dr. Iscoe compared this instance to online shopping. She noted that putting weight loss in the New Year's Resolution 2017 list is a very unrealistic expectation. Pushing the body hard in work out to shed the unwanted body fats gained during the holiday is punishing the body, News.Com reported.

The expert believes that depriving the body of the food and calories it needs is taking the process backward which is unhealthy. As a reminder, she shared that the body's main function is to survive and it needs the necessary nutrients for metabolism, not for bikinis and skinny jeans.

These unhealthy habits could be effects of other stresses in life. She encouraged people to work on their mind, not their abs.

According to 4029TV, 92 percent will fail in their New Year's Resolution and will be exhausted after their weight loss attempt.

Dr. Sherri D. Pruitt, the chief behavioral scientist for Silver Sneakers Fitness, said that most people fail in their New Year's Resolution because of setting their goals too big. The goal has to be specific and make it in the level the body can keep up to.

She advises that rather than setting up a certain target weight, make it a goal to eat lesser calories or do a daily exercise for 30 minutes. Another example she gave is to fill half of the dinner plate with vegetables instead of aiming to eat healthier for the next year.

Another step to help achieve the goal is by tracking. Tracking improvement from each day can motivate the mindset. Seeing the daily or occasional progress overwhelms the person. To manage the passive weight loss well make sure to limit the goals and monitor it accordingly.
