Fan-made games are very popular for the Pokemon franchise. Unfortunately, one didn't get to see the light of day after Nintendo shut it down four days before its release date.

Pokemon Prism is a fan-made game that is based on the popular franchise, Pokemon. The game features brand new maps as well as characters. Pokemon Prism sports the graphics of Generation II of Pokemon. However, it doesn't have the usual three starters like the original Pokemon Games. Instead, players will get a Larvitar as a starter Pokemon. Despite sporting the graphics of Generation II, players can encounter Pokemon from the different region such as Shinx. The game also sports the option to shift from the player to Larvitar when navigating the overworld.

Unfortunately, Pokemon Prism met its demise four days before its release date. Pokemon Prism is set for release on Christmas Day, December 25, but it won't happen anymore since its creator took it down from the internet. The game took eight years in development. Since it is a fan-made game, it's bound to run into problems with intellectual rights. Nintendo caught the game in its radar and advised the creator to take it down immediately.

Adam Vierra, the one-man creator for Pokemon Prism posted on Facebook that he is cancelling the development of the game. "Pokemon Prism has been cancelled. Thank you all for the support throughout the years," said Vierra. He also said he'll be making a longer statement with regards to his cancellation of Pokemon Prism development and informed fans that he'll also take down the game's Facebook Page.

Nintendo took it in their hands to inform Vierra that he is violating Nintendo's intellectual property rights and demanded Vierra to "immediately cease further work on this game." The company informed him that he is violating Nintendo's intellectual rights by releasing a game that is not acknowledged by the creators of the Pokemon series. Vierra attached a document along with his statement. The document is said to be Nintendo's Australia-based legal team. To avoid facing dire consequences of intellectual rights violation, Vierra is forced to terminate the development and take down all the download links of Pokemon Prism from his website. The website now sports a link to the said document along with a brief message to his fans.

Earlier this year, another Pokemon fan-made game got terminated by Nintendo for violating its intellectual property rights. Pokemon Uranium also got taken down after nine years of development on the game. Pokemon Uranium takes place in a brand new region, where Pokemon have mutated It is the player's job to stop them. The developers received multiple notices from Nintendo America to take down the game from the internet. Check out Pokemon Prism's gameplay below.
