The holidays is the perfect time to catch up with your family - your families from Westeros, that is. Fans and Game of Thrones newbies can rejoice because HBO will be airing a Game of Thrones marathon beginning December 26th.

Seasons 1 - 6 Catch Up.  HBO has announced that there will be a Game of Thrones marathon beginning today, December 26. Each day, one entire season of the fan favorite TV show will on HBO starting at 12 PM ET.

What better way to welcome the New Year than by welcoming it with a Game of Thrones marathon? Fans and newbies to the TV show will get their Game of Thrones fix 10 hours a day.

Season 7 and 8 news. The much anticipated Season 7 of Game of Thrones won't be airing until after the New Year. However, it was reported to have only 7 episodes instead of the usual 10 per season.

As for the air date of Season 7, it is yet to be set. The release date had to be delayed because the production was delayed to ensure that the weather would coincide since 'Winter' is already here.

"No ... we don't have an airdate yet, but this year it'll probably be a bit later," the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained on the UFC Unfiltered podcast. This is because the show has to be filmed until February to make sure that most, if not all, of Season 7 will be filmed during the winter season.

No actual date was given yet. What we know is that it will air sometime in summer of 2017.

There has already been news about a Season 8 and it may only have 6 episodes. Showrunner Benioff has gone on record saying that there will be two more seasons after season 6, with the entire TV series having a total runtime of 70-75 hours.
