Netflix's biopic drama series about the life of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) quickly gets the attention of the many and tagged as critically acclaimed. Based on the award-winning play, "The Audience," the show's creator Peter Morgan teased that they are only starting to tell the story of the Britain's royal family in "The Crown" Season 2.
In fact, in an interview with People, Morgan revealed what fans can expect in the coming "The Crown" Season 2. He said that the new chapter is going to tell the deeper story of Prince Philip's (Matt Smith) and the young Prince Charles lives. "We start to focus on Charles as a young boy and his education, and on Philip and his back story," Morgan explained.
"The Crown" Season 2 executive producer Suzanne Mackie, on the other hand, hinted that fans are about to see Prince Philip's childhood and his background that influenced the man that he is. Of course, in the coming "The Crown" Season 2, viewers will see the Queen once again along with the rest of the royal family and will witness the social confusion of Britain in the early 1960s.
Morgan described it as a goodbye to the distinctive, Edwardian, post-imperial world and welcoming a modernity and classlessness. Meanwhile, Foy revealed that there will be a time jump and all actors are going to be replaced after "The Crown" Season 2. The main cast is going to be substituted by older stars as their characters are about to age onscreen.
With that, fans can now expect to see Princess Diana to be introduced in "The Crown" Season 3. Foy, too, unveiled that she will be gone after "The Crown" Season 2 and people behind the television series will get rid of all of them, Vulture reported. However, Foy admitted that she is too honored to be part of the show and happy that there will be no 3 a.m. wake-up call anymore. "The Crown" Season 2 is now in production and is expected to be on Netflix in 2017.
