‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Release Date, Latest News & Update: Shift To Online Mode May Kill Sequel
Rockstar Games has its hands full on “Red Dead Redemption 2”, the sequel of which is expected to come out in the Fall of 2017. While most are excited to see what the next installment has to offer, some are apprehensive on the roadmap of game developers.
One concern is the business side of things for “Red Dead Redemption 2”. Most are under the impression that Rockstar may adopt the same online mode and mini transactions that other games like “Grand Theft Auto 5” have turned to. While it may be a new gaming experience, the fact is that it may hurt the chances of the game particularly in single player mode, Neurogadget reported.
Seeing that the shift to online mode has been the trend these days, it could make or break things for “Red Dead Redemption 2”. On its own, it has done marvelously on solo mode, especially when it comes to the campaigns and missions. The online side of things could add more flavor and all depends on the programming and script.
A game which “Red Dead Redemption 2” could follow would be “Call of Duty: IW”. The game was needed to play “Modern Warfare” and from there, the money angle comes in. Most may not admit it but the fact is that most have taken the bait. So will Rockstar follow the Activision move? There is a chance that Rockstar may do the same and such will draw mixed reactions. Most will be open to the idea though it would be best if it was ‘optional’.
The gist of it all is that the main “Red Dead Redemption 2” game remains unscathed with people having the flexibility to play it independently and online if merited. Another point worth considering is the Western game setting for “Red Dead Redemption 2”. For the game to be accepted, Rockstar needs to come up with something tempting to align it with modern-day gaming, Gaming Bolt reported.
