HTC continues to find ways to keep abreast with the likes of Samsung and Apple and that all that could depend on its next flagship. The word out right now is that the company is releasing an HTC Ocean Note which could likely be a phablet.

If true, the HTC Ocean Note is seen as the flagship of the bunch. With regards to its speculated features, the said device seems to be picking off some features from the fallen Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, ePrice reported. This includes a 5.5- or 5.7- curved display, which highlighted the last credible Samsung flagship that came out in early 2016.

Moving forward, HTC could be following some changes that Apple made for its iPhone 7. The HTC Ocean Note will reportedly do away with the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack which would limit audio entertainment via USB-C or Bluetooth connectivity. Then again, HTC has been known to deliver BoomSound technology, one that appeared on the lower part of the HTC One M8 as shown on the HTC website.

If so, ditching the headphone jack may only affect private listening owners of the HTC Ocean 8. Other than those mentioned, there are expectedly more to look forward to such as the main camera of the device. It could be a dual-lens camera offering as well though nothing has been confirmed by HTC on the matter. Do take note that HTC has not necessarily had a good track record when it comes to its camera offering.

For the HTC Ocean Note, an improved camera could include X DxOMark, the same one used on the Google Pixel, Pocket Lint reported. If so, the device could eventually surprise many with a whole new crop of features. HTC is expected to unveil its smartphone offering on Jan. 12, 2017 at its “For U” event.
