NBA Trade Latest News & Updates: Rajon Rondo, Paul Millsap Up For Grabs As February Deadline Nears

The Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls could be moving key players by the NBA trade deadline set for February. The Hawks are reportedly dangling Paul Millsap while the Bulls could be on the verge of severing ties with Rajon Rondo.

The Hawks are listening to trade offers for Millsap with the team making sure they will not end up empty-handed in the offseason, ESPN reported. Millsap is expected to opt out after this season as he joins a wild 2017 NBA offseason looking for better pay.

Millsap is not the only one who could be moving on the Hawks’ end. Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha are also up for grabs and all may depend on what is on the table. Millsap may be the hardest pawn to move with word that Atlanta is asking too much in return. The case is a bit different in Chicago. The Bulls seem to be hinting at a possible Rajon Rondo move which could be a trade or a buyout.

Since being benched for disciplinary measures, the all-star guard has lost his starting job and spending more time on the bench. Even more glaring is the fact that Rondo’s playing time has been cut immensely. Fred Hoiberg has opted not to field in the veteran guard even off the bench. Rondo lost his post to Michael Carter-Williams. According to Hoiberg, Rondo is fully aware and understands the current situation.

Rondo was set to meet with general manager Gar Forman before the year ended, many speculating a trade or a buyout, CSN Chicago reported. Like Millsap, Rondo holds a hefty price tag that may turn other teams off. Rondo signed a $27.4 million deal in the 2016 offseason which could force a buyout scenario. That means the 30-year-old guard may have to settle for less in 2017 if he wants to see more action on the hardwood.
