Eating Nuts Everyday Contributes To A Longer Life
Simply eating nuts every day is said to contribute to a longer life. A recent study claims the health benefits of eating nuts reduces the risks for cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and even a reduced risk in premature death.
According to a study conducted by the Imperial College London, consuming just 20 grams of nuts, any kind of nuts, every day has crazy, amazing health benefits. Twenty grams of nuts are said to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases by 30 percent. It even reduces the risk of all kinds of cancer by 15 percent.
The researchers also found out that by eating 20 grams of nuts, the risk of dying from diabetes is reduced by 40 percent and the risk of dying from any form of respiratory infections are reduced by half. What's even more astounding, by eating nuts daily, the risk of dying of any cause is reduced by 20 percent.
The study published in the journal, BMC Medicine, considered all kind of natural nuts. Tree nuts like walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, pistachios, and pecans. Brazil nuts and peanuts, although botanically classified as seeds and legumes respectively were also considered under nuts in the study conducted.
In 2003, the US Food and Drug Authority has already suggested the recommended daily consumption of 42 grams of nuts. Nuts are high in fat, fiber, and protein. They are also an excellent source of magnesium, polyunsaturated fats, vitamin E, and antioxidants. Nuts also have properties that are proven to fight inflammation.
The recommended amount of consumption of nuts will not contribute to weight gain. The fats found in nuts are the good kind of fat needed by the body. In an interview with The Independent, study co-author Dagfinne Aune says, “Even though nuts are quite high in fat, they are also high in fiber and protein, and there is some evidence that suggests nuts might actually reduce your risk of obesity over time”.
