With a lot of people getting the PS4 Pro as a present over the holidays, it's timely that games release new updates and patches to address the upgrades in the new console. One such game that sees a new PS4 Pro patch is Hangar 13's "Mafia 3," which features increased resolution and performance, as well as visual improvements.

Released in October 2016 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and macOS, "Mafia 3" follows Vietnam veteran Lincoln Clay in New Bordeaux, where he's tasked to bring down the Italian mob. The game earned mixed reviews from critics and gamers alike, who praised the story but criticized the gameplay. Now gamers who are looking to upgrade to the newest Sony console should know that the PS4 Pro patch features increased resolution and performance, as well as visual improvements.

According to Eurogamer, those who have the PS4 Pro patch of "Mafia 3" will notice that the game has increased resolution of 1440p. This is pretty good for gamers who have ultra HD display and 4K output on the console. While the image quality improvement isn't anything to get excited about, it's pretty good departure from the usual PlayStation 4 display. Those who play on the PS4 Pro and have a 1080p screen will appreciate the super-sampling down from higher internal resolution, despite the decrease in quality in parts where there are pre-rendered cut-scenes.

"Mafia 3" gamers with the PS4 Pro patch will notice two minor upgrades: motion blur and shadow quality. For motion blur, gamers will notice smoother look throughout the game. Gamers will also notice that shadow quality has improved for spotlight shadows only. Meanwhile, those who have been complaining about uneven frame-pacing on PlayStation 4 won't have to complain anymore. It has now been replaced with the standard 30fps cap utilizing adaptive v-sync.

In the meantime, 2K Games has taken to Twitter to share that there will be additional post-release content coming to "Mafia 3" this 2017. Gamers who have the Season Pass will be able to receive the "Faster, Baby!," "Stones Unturned," and "Sign of the Times," all of which are expected to arrive within this year.
