‘Scandal’ Season 6 News & Update: ABC’s TGIT Delayed Because Of Donald Trump; Fans Waiting For Shonda Rhimes’ Reaction
Fans have been waiting for the coming week to come to finally see ABC's TGIT or Thank God it's Thursday schedule, which includes "Scandal" Season 6. However, the long-wait is not yet over as the much-awaited lineup will be pushed back for another week.
The premiere of "Scandal" Season 6 is once again delayed to make way for the nearing presidential inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20. But before that, ABC wants to air a "20/20" special on Jan. 19 titled "America's First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington." This will also affect other shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder."
According to E! News, "Scandal" Season 6, "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder" are all intentionally delayed to make TGIT lineup intact. To make the long wait easy, ABC will feature repeat episodes of the Ellen Pompeo and Kerry Washington-lead television series before the "20/20" special.
Moreover, in the previous season of the political thriller television series, fans witnessed the unruly truth behind every election. As Cyrus (Jeff Perry) was chosen as Francisco Vargas' running mate against Mellie (Bellamy Young), Olivia Pope's (Washington) influence in the country is getting divided. From here, the much-awaited of the show's election will be revealed in the coming "Scandal" Season 6.
Meanwhile, the "Scandal" Season 6 creator Shonda Rhimes has been known not a fan of Trump, Slate reported. In fact, she has been in Hillary Clinton's ad with some of the stars of her shows. She, too, revealed a statement on her Twitter page about her stand. With the delayed of some of her programs, which include "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder," because of the new POTUS, a lot is waiting for her reaction. ABC's TGIT lineup will officially launch after a week of its original schedule on Jan. 26.
