This is either an extremely massive case of food poisoning or a very elaborate ploy to play hooky.

Over 8,000 German children have been calling in sick from school, due to an unknown virus that has caused severe vomiting and diarrhea.

Associated Press of Berlin reports that infection can be tentatively traced to food sources in school cafeterias and day care centers, though any definite cause for what sparked the outbreak is still unknown.

Though the cases of infection are still rising, Berlin health officials and media reports indicate that no hospitalizations have been needed. After two to three days of rest, water and sleep,the children recover.
