'Atlanta' Season 2 Air Date Delayed: Donald Glover Series Pushed Back Due To 'Star Wars' Young Han Solo Film
There is little doubt that Donald Glover is hot property right now, especially now that the former "Community" actor is set to portray young Lando Calrissian in the highly anticipated "Star Wars" Han Solo standalone movie. Unfortunately, this also means that "Atlanta" Season 2 will need to get pushed back to a 2018 air date.
The first season of "Atlanta" proved to be a huge hit for FX when it aired earlier last year and fans have been looking forward to a followup getting a premiere in 2017. However, things have changed now that Donald Glover is a part of the upcoming "Star Wars" film about the young Han Solo. So when exactly is the "Atlanta" Season 2 air date?
FX has just released a statement confirming that although "Atlanta" Season 2 will happen, the series will not air this year. Instead, Donald Glover's show will get pushed back to a 2018 premiere. The network also revealed that the delay is due to Glover's hectic schedule this year, which will undoubtedly include the young Han Solo movie. In addition to that, the announcement somehow shared that the "Star Wars" film will begin production later in 2017.
The "Atlanta" Season 2 delay might have a huge impact on FX this year, but the network is eager to wait for Donald Glover's schedule to clear up. The statement expressed FX's belief in Glover's creativity and praised the "Star Wars" actor's work as an artist, writer, musician and director.
The first season of "Atlanta" premiered on FX in September 2016 and immediately had fans falling in love with Donald Glover's Earn and Brian Tyree Henry's Paper Boi. Although the "Atlanta" Season 2 air date has not yet been confirmed, there are speculations that the series could return sometime in summer or early fall in 2018.
