Today is the most anticipated day of "Gotham" season 3 fans, as the show is launching its midseason premiere tonight. The FOX series is bringing back the cast and crew for the second half of season 3, which will also see the highly anticipated return of Jerome's Joker, who was previously assumed dead. However, fans now know that Jerome comes back to life in tonight's episode titled "Ghosts."

We previously reported that "Gotham" season 3 will also see Penguin deal with his father's death and spirit, as he will he haunted by his dad's ghost. The last trailer released for the midseason premiere showed Penguin in shock when he experienced an apparition by his father's ghost.

Meanwhile, Comic Book reported that a new trailer has surfaced for tonight's episode titled "Ghosts." In the latest trailer for "Gotham" season 3 midseason premiere, viewers can get a glimpse of a very alive Jerome, whose face is held together by staples and stitches. Fans of DC's New 52 are assuming that the storyline in the comics has made its way to the series.

Executive producer John Stephens spoke to TV Guide to share his thoughts on this resurrected Jerome, who he says isn't as "nice" as he was before. Additionally, viewers and fans can expect him to be more "psychotic" than ever following his brush with death. What's even more interesting in "Gotham" season 3 is that we'll finally get to see how Jerome plays a role in how Bruce Wayne will become Batman.

We previously reported that "Justified" star Raymond J. Barry will play a Shaman that will help Bruce become Batman. However, Jerome or the Joker will also have a hand in Bruce realizing his identity as the Dark Knight. "Gotham" season 3 airs tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX.
