The increasing incidence rate of acute and chronic wounds is expected to further increase the demand for wound healing application of these devices.

"Chronic wounds are a very big problem," Dr. Shannon Mitchel, Medical Director of Wound Care for Cornerstone Hospital, said as reported by WSPA News.

"It is difficult to treat wounds properly. Wounds that are open tend to get infected and that's one reason why it requires a physician overseeing the effort," he added.

The good news is, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy shows promise in treating wounds. It stimulates the atmospheric pressing of being 33 feet below sea level in a 100-percent oxygen environment. When the patients would inhale the oxygen, it boosts the body's natural healing process.

Medical News Today reports that HBOT brings more oxygen in the bloodstream and can enhance healing for people with a number of conditions.
