It looks like the showrunners of "Game of Thrones" are not yet sure how many episodes "Games of Thrones" Season 8 will have. In fact, HBO's programming president Casey Bloys revealed that the epic show's bosses are still considering how long the final season will be.

Based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series "A Song of Ice and Fire," its showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are eyeing to cap the show at 73 hours. "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will have seven episodes while "Game of Thrones" Season 8 has eight chapters. However, it seems like they still can't decide how many episodes the final installment should have.

"They're still figuring out the shape of the season, what they want to do," Bloys said, per Entertainment Weekly. He even cleared that he will be open to them and will take as many episodes as the showrunners want to do. If ever they will propose eight episodes for "Game of Thrones" Season 8, he wants it to be 10 chapters. But, the final say will be from the show's executive producers and they will only inform him of their decisions.

Moreover, the seven episodes of "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will have are evidently shorter by three episodes than usual. It has been said that "Game of Thrones" Season 8 will only be composed of six episodes, but some people from the production teased that they still 15 hours left to complete the show. Hence, it is not yet confirmed if it will be shorter than the seventh season, will have longer episodes or a grandiose finale, Slash Film reported.

Meanwhile, Benioff cleared that they want to tell a cohesive story in "Game of Thrones" Season 8 with a "beginning, middle and end."As fans already know how the story will flow in "Game of Thrones" Season 7 from the previous chapter's ending, the tale is gradually shaping, and all leads to the end.
