There are a lot of new phones expected to debut at the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017), including past device teases that never really saw the light of day. Nokia has recently gained some noise and now an almost-forgotten device has risen from the ashes with the Nokia P1. The device was teased last Summer though its existence never really got any confirmation.

That could all change next month with word from a Russian publication, Workett, that the Nokia P1 will be among the new devices to expect. For those unfamiliar with the Android smartphone, this is actually one based on the Sharp Aquos Xx3 which was previously released in Japan.With its revival, it will be interesting if this speculated device can be among the big hits at the MWC 2017.

Nokia improves on the said device with specs that include a 5.3-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of internal storage, a 22.6 MP main camera and being IP57 certified, Phone Arena reported. The Nokia P1 will also adapt some modern technology with a fingerprint scanner and bank on a 3,500 mAh battery with provisions for quick-charging.

It will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the suggested retail price dependening on the GB model. The 128 GB variant of the Nokia P1 will cost $800 while the larger 256 GB version may be priced at around $950. Do take note that all this is unofficial until Nokia or HMD Global makes any official announcement on the Nokia P1.

HMD Global recently took over the cudgels of Nokia and confirms that they will be at MWC 2017. Only the mid-range Nokia 6 has so far been the only device to be officially announced and appearing at the Mobile World Congress happening next month as mentioned in a previous post. More handsets are expected with the Nokia P1 possibly being one of them.
