Android 7.0 Nougat Latest News & Update: Sony Stops OS Update Due To Audio Issues, Details Here

Sony has stopped updates rolling out for its Xperia Z series with word that the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update has been causing audio-related issues. The pullout comes just after the Japanese company started to roll out the latest Android OS update (with build number 32.3.A.0.372) for the entire Sony Z5, and select models under the Z3+ and Z4 Xperia tablet families.

Sony confirmed that the temporary setback has taken effect following inconsistencies related to audio playback from third-party apps. Aside from that, there was also an issue related to SD card encrypted data where reading performance was reportedly affected following an update to Android 7.0 Nougat, according to an official statement from Sony.

Hence, Sony Xperia phone owners should not be alarmed should they find the Android 7.0 Nougat update no longer available. The halt is believed to be global and only temporary as fixes to address the problem is believed to be underway. There is no telling on how long to address the problem as of this writing in order for Sony to resume the latest Android OS update to the Sony Xperia series, Phone Arena reported.

The good news thus far, per NDTV, is that Sony has identified the root cause of the problem and is currently working on the corrective firmware to resolve the issues. The Japanese company plans to continue the rollout once the stable Android 7.0 Nougat update is accounted for. Similar to other mobile operating systems, the Android OS stumbles upon issues like these.

Some crop up due to modifications needed to current setups with carriers while some bugs just come out of the blue due to updates rolled out in a hurry. A positive way to look at it is that it covers select Sony Xperia models and that the issue has been limited to the early bird applicants. Once the stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat comes out, here is hoping that it minimizes future problems for Sony handset owners.
