Seth Rollins was looking forward to the Royal Rumble 2017 but the “Architect” lost his spot to Sami Zayn during the Jan. 23 edition of "WWE Raw". The match was arranged by Raw commissioner Stephanie McMahon which has the inadvertent fingerprint of "WWE" COO Triple H.

The match was action-packed as expected with the momentum favoring Rollins and Zayn on occasion. Rollins was on the verge of victory after hitting a “Pedigree” until a familiar tune hit the background. The "WWE" entrance theme of Triple H blared, catching the attention of the “Architect”. The "WWE" COO never really emerged but the distraction was all Sami Zayn needed to use a small package and boot out Rollins from the 30-man battle royal happening this Sunday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, WWE.com reported.

Looking ahead, Rollins hopes of winning the "WWE Universal" title just got dimmer. But then again, he was never expected to figure at least until "Wrestlemania 33". The past months have carried speculations of a mentor vs. student match happening at the annual "WWE" spectacle in Orlando with most waiting for Triple H to show up. He "virtually" did that with the aid of Stephanie so it will be interesting how to pan out from here, Wrestling Inc. reported.

Mick Foley told Rollins he had no knowledge of what just went down as the “Architect” started his search to for his former mentor. Triple H’s last appearance was during the "WWE Raw" episode after SummerSlam, taking out Roman Reigns and Rollins that allowed Kevin Owens to be crowned champion. Headed to the Sunday pay-per-view, Rollins is not set for any match though it won’t be surprising to see him appear.

The closest scenario is seeing him get involved in the match between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns for the Universal title. Being a no disqualification match, either Rollins or Triple H could interfere at some point. If so, the end result is seeing both getting it on with mayhem expected to break loose. Another possibility is the" Royal Rumble" itself though it will be interesting who Rollins or Triple H would target.
