'The Leftovers' Season 3 Air Date & Spoilers: 'Game Of Thrones Season 7' Delayed For Justin Theroux Series Final Season
It has truly been a long wait for the third season of "The Leftovers", and just when fans thought the series has inexplicably been cancelled, an update arrives courtesy of Justin Theroux. "The Leftovers" Season 3 has finally been given an air date, and the show's final season is set to premiere ahead of "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
Fans had good reason to worry about "The Leftovers" Season 3 being cancelled. Although the Justin Theroux series was renewed for a final season, this was way back in December 2015 and HBO has not offered any updates since then. Luckily, an announcement has been made and it teases on a truly satisfying conclusion that involves Kevin Garvey, his estranged father and of course, Australia. The premiere should fit nicely just a few weeks before "Game of Thrones" Season 7 returns.
The first teaser for the final season was shared by Justin Theroux, who happily captioned that "we know the date." The Instagram video is unsurprisingly brief, but it definitely confirms "The Leftovers" Season 3 air date. However, it looks like the drama has been moved ahead of HBO's other highly anticipated series "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
It might seem odd that "Game of Thrones" Season 7 would be pushed back in favor of "The Leftovers" Season 3, but the delay has more to do with "GOT" starting production later than usual. In the meantime, fans can rest assured that Justin Theroux's character is set for one final reunion with Kevin Garvy Sr., who is played by Scott Glenn. Additionally, the third season will take place in a completely new place.
According to io9, there is a huge possibility that "The Leftovers" Season 3 will be set in Australia, which has always been hinted on in the previous season. Find out what could happen to Justin Theroux's Kevin Garvey when the final season premieres on HBO on April 16. "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to air by June 25.
