Piaggio Group Shifts To High Gear With ‘Gita’, The New Personal Cargo Robot
Vespa has been known to be behind the classic scooters (both fuel and electric kinds) and is perhaps not a familiar fixture in the world of technology. There is always a first time and that day may have come courtesy of the Piaggio Group with “Gita”, an innovative personal cargo robot.
Credit to “Gita” comes from the robot-focused company Piaggio Fast Forward. “Gita” is a portable ally that should come in handy, giving portable storage a new look. The robot can reportedly haul up to 40 pounds of supplies either through maps or through the directions of a person behind the control. It travels pretty at 22 MPH and features agility that should be able to handle sharp curves when on the go, the Wall Street Journal reported.
“Gita” offers an advanced way of delivering stuff from one point to the other. It addresses the pains of folks who need the aid of a car or a trolley when moving their groceries and other items. The robot will be made available initially to businesses with a consumer version following soon from Piaggio.
Despite its revelation, other specifics such as pricing and official date of availability have yet to be known. “Gita” will reportedly be launched on Feb. 2, something that may shed more light on the specifics and things that it can do to aid the human kind, Engadget reported. Other concerns for most include the area of coverage and the longevity of use since this one is likely to rely on electric means pointing to batteries.
“Gita” will be the ice-breaker for the Piaggio Group’s robotics initiative, focusing on the future of mobility for businesses and the private consumers. Robots have been presented in the past but the mobility part and the fact that a familiar brand (Vespa) is behind it makes it something worth checking out.
