‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Niantic Spreading More Love On Valentine’s Day, Spring Break

Niantic is aware that special events are something that “Pokemon Go” players eagerly await for. The last one was done last Christmas and nothing has followed since. Looking ahead, the only plausible themed event may be Valentine’s Day though it is not really seen as a big one to look forward to. Just the same, the goodies that the augmented reality company has to offer will be welcomed by most.

There is no assurance that Niantic will have something special on Valentine’s Day for “Pokemon Go”. It is a recognized occasion but the best thing to look forward to is to perhaps something meager like new monsters or a bigger haul of freebies in the form of eggs, lures or even some Pokemon candy. Like previous events, this could run for several days like perhaps from Feb. 11 to 15.

If not Valentine’s day, a special event for “Pokemon Go” could happen by Spring Break, Slash Gear suggested. This would be on Mar. 11 where U.S. students could get some goodies or pocket monsters for the occasion.

Speaking of monsters, there is word that Nintendo may be preventing Niantic from releasing new updates. A lot of this is tied up to the release of Pokemon Duel for iOS and Android over in the United States. It should be noted that Pokemon Duel is not really a new game, something that debuted in Japan last year, Forbes reported. Pokemon Duel is hardly a hit with gamers, but the alleged conspiracy theory does make a bit of sense.

As far as “Pokemon Go” is concerned, it will be interesting if Pokemon Duel is indeed to blame. Gen 2 Pokemon are still something AR gamers are waiting for and the understanding is that this will only come to fruition via Niantic’s next big event. Could something be brewing for Valentine’s Day?
