'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 Predictions & Spoilers: Obi-Wan Kenobi Might Not Kill Darth Maul In Season Finale Rematch

Fans are already looking forward to the rematch between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul in the "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 finale. Everyone is already expecting Ben Kenobi to defeat the horned Sith yet again, but will the Jedi actually kill the horned villain in the animated series? There is a huge possibility that Maul will survive the fight unlike the rematch that was seen in an old "Star Wars" comic book.

There is good reason why fans are excited about the rematch in the last episode of "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3. Obi-Wan Kenobi had first faced Darth Maul along with Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who ended up being killed by the Sith. Obi-Wan had to fight Maul immediately after Qui-Gon's death, cutting the Sith in half and leaving him for dead. There is little doubt that Maul is eager to take revenge on the Jedi, as evidenced in the "Star Wars" comic book story "Old Wounds".

The "Star Wars" comic book follows Darth Maul as he tracks down Obi-Wan Kenobi to Tatooine (via io9). The Sith manages to find Owen and Beru Lars, where he realizes that Anakin Skywalker had a son. Maul plans to kill Luke Skywalker, but Obi-Wan jumps out of the sand (!) and engages him in a lightsaber fight.

It is an awesome match as Obi-Wan Kenobi manages to cut off Darth Maul's left arm but is unable to kill the Sith. However, Owen Lars steps in and shoots Maul in the head with a blaster. Owen then orders Obi-Wan to take the corpse and stay away from his family. There is a huge possibility that "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 will somehow follow the events in the comic book, but without the death of Maul.

The mid-season trailer for "Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 already shows Obi-Wan Kenobi in the desert when Darth Maul approaches him. It is possible that the rematch between Jedi and Sith will take place in Tatooine. In the meantime, "Legacy of Mandalore" will air on Disney XD on February 18.
