The last time "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was on FOX, viewers and fans saw a shocking ending to the fall finale of the comedy series. With the fate of Chelsea Peretti's Gina Linetti hanging in the air, fans are wondering what other tricks the show has up its sleeve. The latest news surrounding the Andy Samberg starrer is that "Castle" star Nathan Fillion will try his hand at comedy in a guest role in the series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Castle" star Nathan Fillion will be arriving to the FOX comedy series when it comes back this April. As Fillion tries his hand at comedy in guest role, the former "Firefly" star will play the role of Mark Devereaux, an actor in the fictional "Serve & Protect." He'll encounter Jake (Andy Samberg) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) when the two investigate a crime in the show's set.

As one does, Fillion's Mark will offer his detective skills, those that he got from 10 years of playing the role of Mark on the show. In addition, Greg German of "Once Upon a Time" and "Ally McBeal" is also set to guest star as "Serve & Protect" executive producer Gary Lurmax, who charms Jake off his feet. It seems like "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 is bringing out the guns before it concludes this spring.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 is far from ending just yet, and no news has arrived regarding its renewal. Zap2It reported in December, however, that the series will be renewed despite its decreased ratings this season versus season 3. Now that "Castle" star Nathan Fillion is trying his hand at comedy in guest role, we're hoping that the show can maintian its fanbase and carry on to another season.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 has quite a few more stories to tell, as Jake and Amy (Melissa Fumero) are finally moving in, and the fate of Gina is still up in the air. Tune into "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" when it returns to FOX on April 11.
