After "Tokyo Ghoul" season 2 left fans with a devastating finale, many are hoping for "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 to stream right away just to give answers and closure to the last episode. Unfortunately, the Japanese fantasy manga series had to do a studio switch which caused the delay of the much-awaited third installment.

"Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 was expected to be released before the end of 2016. Obviously, that did not happen. Now that January has passed and February is already heading into its third week, rumors are now swirling that there is a high chance that the animated show will be pushed to a March launch.

It has been previously reported that "Tokyo Ghoul" was transferred from Madhouse Entertainment to Pierrot Studio, which resulted to a delay for the series' development. Another huge cause of the postponement was because the creators reportedly have "insufficient material" to make "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3. "Tokyo Ghoul" season 2 has already faced a lot of backlash since many believed that the adaptation departed a lot from the storylines of the beloved manga.

So for it to end with the death of Kaneki Ken's childhood best friend, Hide, and not confirming if "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 will ever happen, left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth. Frustrated fans discussed their thoughts in an online community forum, with some even suggesting that "Tokyo Ghoul" may have already been cancelled.

"I just finished [watching] the whole anime and I think it sucks," one fan shared, adding that the show had a lot of "plot holes, bad character development and its really poorly explained." But despite the cancellation rumors and negative feedbacks, new reports about the show like adding a new character gave fans hope that "Tokyo Ghoul" season 3 is still happening, giving the show a chance to redeem itself.
