iPhone 8 Latest News & Update: Speculated 5-Inch Variant Coming Out Without Accessories Included
The wait is on for the iPhone 8, the much-anticipated refreshed design from Apple. Ordinarily, there would be two classes to expect, but the word out is that the Cupertino company may be coming out with four different models.
Word of such comes from Mac Otakara where there will reportedly be a "tweener" in the mix. One of the variants could be a device somewhere in between the 4.7- and 5-inch models most saw in 2017, armed with wireless charging capability. It is also expected to come less the 3.5 mm jack, though there could be some bad news. Presumed to be the mid-range of the mix, this iPhone 8 variant will reportedly come without the accessories for wireless charging and audio listening.
This means that folks who eventually get one will have to buy them separately. The wireless charger and the Lightning-to-headphone adapters will not be included. Instead, packaged with the 5-inch iPhone 8 will reportedly be a USB Type-A and a USB Type-C cable for charging and audio listening respectively, Slash Gear reported.
With the 5-inch variant looming as the budget-friendly iPhone 8 in the mix, the latest round of speculation could deem either good or bad. Good in the sense that it could pull down the suggested retail price and give buyers the freedom to get the wireless charging and audio options. The bad part is that folks will have to go out of their way to get them and pay additional. Either way, all these are not final so it would be best to keep an eye out.
Also note that the iPhone models coming out in 2017 may not entirely be iPhone 8 variants. There is belief that an iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus could be coming out first with the iPhone 8 being the top dog of the mix. That said, the 5-inch device could be the successor to the iPhone SE line and hence the fourth member of the next iPhone family.
