Chocoloate Oreos Recalled As It Poses Great Health Risks
Poundstretcher has announced a recall for packets of Oreos due to safety fears of causing allergies. The discount store has pulled the Chocolate Creme Oreos from its shelves because of incorrect labeling. It did not indicate on the packaging that it included wheat and milk.
The Food Standards Agency has warned that the cookies are possible health risks for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat, gluten and milk or milk constituents. The Poundstretcher has store at Totton, Fareham, Huntingdon Retail Park and Jubillee Walk, Haverhill.
This could greatly put people who are allergic to wheat, gluten or milk at risk. Consumers are greatly advised not to eat the cookies and to contact the allergy organization if they are concerned of anaphylaxis.
Anaphylaxis is a very serious allergic reaction that is rapid in onset and may even cause death. It typically causes more than one reaction such as an itchy rash, throat or tongue swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting, lightheadedness, and low blood pressure.
To prevent anaphylaxis, avoid substances that can cause severe reactions. This is why the FDA has announced an alert about the Chocolate Creme Oreos to ensure that the public and loyal consumers of the product can avoid any severe reactions. It is important for all products to properly label the ingredients and contents on the packaging.
According to The Mirror, the affected product is the Chocolate Creme Oreos, 176 grams that contains four cookies in a pack. It includes items with best before end dates of April, May, July and August 2017. The EAN bar code is 7622300360375 that can be found on the packaging.
Nottingham Post reported that consumers may return the products to the store from where they purchased it and get a full refund. So far no other Oreo products, or products sold by the discount store Poundstretcher, are known to be affected.
