Keanu Reeves 2017: 'John Wick 2' Star Already Planning Third Film, Wants 'Matrix' Reunion With Laurence Fishburne
Fans are still gushing over the awesome sequel "John Wick: Chapter 2" but it looks like Keanu Reeves already has his eyes set a third film. The "Bill and Ted" star has just revealed that he has his own idea for "John Wick 3", which could reunite the titular character with The Bowery King played by Laurence Fishburne. Does this mean another "Matrix" reunion is on the way? Can John keep his beloved dog safe in the third movie?
There were several great characters that were introduced in "John Wick 2" including the mute assassin Ares, who was played by "Orange Is The New Black" star Ruby Rose. However, the most memorable new addition to the cast was undoubtedly Laurence Fishburne, who had starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the "Matrix" films. There is little doubt that Reeves wants to keep working with Fishburne, as evidenced by his own pitch on what could take place in "John Wick 3".
Keanu Reeves and "John Wick 2" director Chad Stahelski recently revealed their plans for a sequel during an interview with the Empire podcast. The "Matrix" star admitted that he wants to see John "trying to escape from New York" and enlisting Laurence Fishburne's Bowery King for assistance. Reeves added that John Leguizamo's Hector should also return to remind John he's "excommunicado" and the whole premise of "John Wick 3" could be a major showdown between Continental and High Table.
So will "John Wick 3" be an immediate sequel following the events at the end of the previous movie? Director Chad Stahelski stated that the third film might take place sometime in the future, allowing Keanu Reeves' character to "get lost in the world then come back".
According to Comic Book, "John Wick 3" could be a combination of both pitches, opening with John escaping New York and settling into a comfortable life with his dog before being called in for a job. There is a possibility that "Matrix" star Laurence Fishburne will also return as the Bowery King soon.
