The Los Angeles Lakers made some moves at the NBA trade deadline with Magic Johnson continuing his overhaul of the embattled franchise. The young and rising players stayed on as expected with veterans being dealt off.

First to go was Lou Williams who was dealt with the Houston Rockets for Corey Brewer and a draft pick. Before the final bell rand on the NBA trade deadline, the Lakers weren’t finished dealing with the Rockets. Marcelo Huertas will join his former teammate Williams when he was dealt for Tyler Ennis, Bleacher Report reported. Unfortunately, Huertas may not get the chance to take the floor with reports from the Vertical that he will be waived.

It remains to be seen if Ennis will get his groove back with the Lakers. He struggled for playing time with the Rockets and looking at the core of guards Luke Walton has, it may be tougher to see the floor. Proof of that is Huertas who was practically not seen for the Lakers.

Magic Johnson and Indiana Pacers Larry Bird did hook up and such sparked Paul George trade talk, Silver Screen and Roll reported. Unfortunately, nothing went beyond pleasantries with the all-star forward staying in Indiana, at least for now. The Pacers seem bent on keeping George, even dangling their 2017 NBA draft pick to reel in some help. With the passing of the NBA trade deadline, nothing went down.

The storm is expected to calm for now as all teams prepare for the NBA playoffs. The Lakers’ chances are not looking swell as their inconsistent run continues. For now, Johnson and company may look at the summer to see who they can get. The Lakers are looking for a veteran to lead the yuppies, one reason why Paul George and Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls may have been mentioned in previous NBA trade talk.
