The New Orleans Pelicans have been busy the past couple of days, highlighted by the big acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins. Gone are Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, and Langston Galloway, all of whom are now with the Sacramento Kings. Terrence Jones has now joined that list.

The Pelicans waived Terrence Jones, who appeared in 51 games with averages of 11.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. He entered the league in 2012 as the 18th overall pick, NBA.com reported. New Orleans may be cleaning up shop with an overcrowded frontcourt.

With suited numbers, the guess is on right now on who could pick up the 25-year-old forward who initially played for the Houston Rockets. There are two teams that could make use of the former University of Kentucky standout – the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat. After the NBA trade deadline, all eyes are now on the buyout period, which ends on March 1.

The versatile swingman could be a useful addition to the Celtics, though Danny Ainge already his fair share of wingmen. Boston already has Jaylen Brown, Gerald Green and Jae Crowder so adding Jones may not make immediate sense, NESN reported. Then again, he could be a big help in the rebounding department if the C’s take a second look.

If not in Bean Town, the Miami Heat could weigh in on the possibility of adding Terrence Jones, SB Nation reported. Pat Riley mentioned that they were not active movers during the NBA trade frenzy, opting to see what his current bunch can do for the last 25 games of the NBA regular season. With the Heat ending on a high note before the NBA All-Star festivities, it made sense to see the Heat stay put.

Adding Jones to the Miami fray could be interesting. He is flexible and could come at a bargain. The Heat could be studying the move as we speak. If not, Jones will just have to wait in the wings to see which team would be interested in his services.
