Scottish mom was able to capture the heartwarming moment when her twins held hands. One of her babies battled for life and the other was there all the way.

Kerrie Keen, 36, from Clakmannan, gave birth to sons Cooper and Lucas by emergency C-section in April 2013. Cooper suffered seizures overnight and his oxygen level dipped.

Doctors from Yorkhill Children's Hospital, in Glasgow told Ms. Keen that Cooper suffered multiple brain bleeds while inside the womb. They set up a cot next to his incubator so that the twins could lie next to each other.

Kerrie always took Lucas to visit Cooper and she was amazed to see that they instantly bonded. They would often put Lucas inside the incubator with Cooper and they would hold hands. She said it boosted her faith when he saw Cooper had strength to pull through.

According to The Sun, Cooper was able to recover, but in November 2013 he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluids in the brain. A tube fitted to his head to drain the liquid and relieve the pressure on his brain. The treatment worked but had long-term effects.

Cooper cannot walk, and needs help since he cannot sit on his own. Even though he can't walk, his brother Lucas is always there to help him. The twins are now three years old and the boys are as close as ever.

Lucas continues to look out for his brother. Kerrie said the two are inseparable.

The Daily Record reported that Kerrie shared her twin's picture as part of a fundraising campaign. They aim to help Cooper maintain his independence. The family have now set up a Go Fund Me page to raise funds in order to make the necessary alterations to their home to suit Cooper's needs.
