After airing “NCIS LA” Season 8’s Episode 15 titled “Payback” on Feb. 19 on CBS, the showrunner and producer dropped the curtain on the military drama. However, some reports claim that the upcoming episode will first pay tribute to Miguel Ferrer, the veteran American actor who died on Jan. 19 after a long battle with throat cancer.

Miguel Ferrer Tribute In “NCIS LA” Season 8 Episode 16

The late Miguel Ferrer, who was in “NCIS LA” for a recurring role as Naval Criminal Investigative Service Asst. Director Owen Granger, managed to shoot the installments for season 8 despite struggling with throat cancer. According to The Christian Post, the upcoming “NCIS LA” Season 8 Episode 16 titled “Old Tricks” will show how Miguel Ferrer’s character Owen Granger is officially written out of the much-hyped CBS police crime drama.

The website also reported that “NCIS LA” Season 8 Episode 16 is going to be a special one for fans and viewers because it will feature Miguel Ferrer singing one of Bob Dylan’s most covered songs, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” with his band, the Jenerators. The episode is also expected to finish with a reminiscence title card.

Fans Were Misguided With Various Reports Prior To Miguel Ferrer’s death

Plenty of fans of both Miguel Ferrer and “NCIS LA” thought that the actor would give up the CBS crime drama due to his suffering from throat cancer. This speculation took its height prior to his death when the series showed his character Owen Granger being stabbed and severely injured.

Since his condition was shown ending with a cliffhanger, fans considered that Miguel Ferrer would no longer act in the series, Heavy reported. The source also recalled that the reports vehemently created headlines that the actor suffered a stroke while working on “NCIS LA” set but later it was never confirmed.
