Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, a TV station had conducted a new study through its consumer affairs show the "Marketplace." The study claims that DNA tests conducted on several chicken sandwiches from Subway contained only half chicken.

Subway is based in Milford, Connecticut. Researchers found that Subway's chicken breast were mostly soy.

According to The Washington Times, DNA researcher from Peterborough, Ontario, Matt Harnden at Trent University's Wildlife Forensic DNA Laboratory, had tested the poultry of popular fast food restaurants. They found that most of the scores were close to 100 percent for McDonald's, Wendy's A&W and Tim Horton's.

In response to these claims, Subway Canada said on Tuesday that the report was absolutely false and misleading. They can't confirm the results of the tests but they said the company only uses about 1 percent or less of soy protein in their chicken products according to Fox 25.

They also claim that their chicken is 100 percent white meat and contained seasonings. It is marinated and delivered to stores as a finished and cooked product.

"We will look into this again with our supplier to ensure that the chicken is meeting the high standards we set for our menu items and ingredients," the company told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Soy is one of the most controversial foods in the world. It can either be a wonderful super food or a hormone disrupting poison according to Authority Nutrition.

Soy beans originated in East Asia but are now being produced genetically in the United States. There is over 90 percent of soy produced that is genetically modified and the crops are sprayed with the herbicide Roundup. It may be associated with adverse effects on health.

There are around 50 Subway stores in Canada. They sell a wide variety of sandwiches and salads. The Subway brand has become the world's largest submarine sandwich chain with more than 44,000 locations around the world.
